Community State Bank Awarded 2019 Wisconsin SBA Volume Lender and Financial Services Champion
Community State Bank (CSB) was recently honored with the 2019 Small Business Administration (SBA) Volume Lender Award (Asset Size $300 – $400 Million) and the 2019 Wisconsin Financial Services Champion Award.
“SBA-backed lending is one of the most effective
options for small businesses to start, grow, expand, and recover from adversity,” said Eric Ness, SBA’s Wisconsin District Director.
“These top lenders loaned more than half of all SBA-backed dollars in Wisconsin last year. We congratulate them on their commitment to small business success and the SBA programs.”
Scott Huedepohl (CSB Bank President & CEO), Becky McClelland (CSB Business Banker), Nicholas Borth
(CSB Market President) and Steve Donovan (CSB Executive Vice President) were some of the Community State Bank staff in attendance to accept the awards.
The CSB team was also presented with the Financial Services Champion Award, which was created to
recognize organizations who promote small business, including volunteering time and services to small
business interests and groups.
“Business Lending Partners was proud to nominate Community State Bank for this well-deserved SBA
award,” said BLP Business Finance Manager, Carolyn Engel. “The bank has a history of supporting and
investing in the community. The establishment of Shepherds Community Café is a great example of the
bank’s commitment to support the community and Shepherds College.”
Shepherds Community Café is a partnership between Community State Bank and Shepherds College, a
local collaboration that serves a delicious cup of Stone Creek Coffee while also providing training, work
experience and jobs for students with intellectual disabilities.
“The café has been a great addition to our community and the CSB culture,” said Huedepohl. “We’re
honored to be a part of the café because we know the effect it has on others and on those within our
community and that’s what community banking is all about.”
Both awards were presented at an outdoor ceremony at Community State Bank on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2020. The ceremony was organized in replacement of a banquet, which was scheduled earlier in the year, but postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I’m very proud of our team at CSB,” said Huedepohl. “Our staff is committed to making our communities strong places to live, work and do business. I commend each of them for their efforts. They have proven that we will do what it takes to serve our community, no matter what the circumstances.”
