BLP Helps TS Food Packaging Expand with SBA 504 and Local RLF Loans

City of Burlington, WI –  TS Food Packaging, formerly known as RoJo’s Popcorn and Troystar Packaging, began with a focus on private-label popcorn portion packs. Under the leadership of Robin J. Vos, who took over the company in 1996, TS Food Packaging expanded its product line beyond popcorn, now offering seasonings, oils, and even non-popcorn products. This strategic diversification has fueled significant growth for the company both in sales and employees.

To support this growth, TS Food Packaging teamed up with Business Lending Partners (BLP) and Greenwoods State Bank for financial support. In 2020, Robin secured a $3.8 million SBA 504 loan via BLP which was 40% of the project, and Greenwoods State Bank provided 50% of the costs. The 2020 SBA loan allowed the company to purchase and renovate a larger facility in Burlington. This new location allowed for more efficient operations and increased capacity for additional business opportunities.

In 2022, when renovation costs increased for the new Burlington facility, BLP helped the company with an $80,000 local Revolving Loan Fund (RLF), covering 100% of the additional funds needed. In 2023, further expansion was supported with the purchase of a key piece of equipment for their new packaging line. The equipment purchase was financed through another local RLF, which provided 36% of the costs, with Greenwoods State Bank contributing 54%, leaving only 10% for TS Food Packaging to cover.

Partnering with Business Lending Partners, Greenwoods State Bank, and RCEDC has been instrumental in our growth at TS Food Packaging. Their support enabled us to secure the funding necessary for expansion and they really helped us navigate challenges along the way. The combination of SBA 504 loans and local revolving loan funds allowed us to scale our operations, meet growing demand, and stay competitive in an evolving market.”
