Nichole Mauer started her business as a Licensed Family Child Care Center in June of 2013 and by November of 2013, the business grew into a Licensed Child Care Center. As a mother of four, Nichole wanted to offer the families of Racine more viable options for child care and structured her business around quality and affordability. Mauer Home School provides a safe and nurturing environment that focuses on more than just the ABC’s and 123’s. They nurture the growth of values as well as social and behavioral skills. With the combination of extraordinary care and affordable pricing, the demand for her services increased which prompted Nichole to look for a larger building in Racine.

BLP partnered with Johnson Bank to assist Nichole in purchasing 3319 Washington Ave. building in the City of Racine. Financing from BLP is funded through the Racine Development Group Revolving Loan Fund (RDG RLF) which typically offers an interest rate as low as 2.5% and only requires 10% equity contribution, allowing the borrower to save cash for other business needs. The purchase of the building will allow Mauer Home School to increase their capacity up from 49 to 150 children and hire an additional 10 employees in the next two years.

Nichole, her staff, and the children’s families were excited and supportive throughout the move. Within the first few weeks of Mauer’s move to the new building, they were able to enroll thirty additional children just by word of mouth. Nichole has already added 8 additional staff in the community. Nichole has a passion for Racine County not only because it is her hometown and where she grew up but she wants to be the change she wants to see in the county starting with the small children in Racine.

Sharing her experience with BLP, Nicole said it was “amazing” and that BLP staff was “very supportive and thorough in explaining the process and recommending additional resources that would help with outside needs”.  She further added “BLP was able to help me pursue my dreams with a low equity contribution. I didn’t have to be a big name in order to get assistance. If you invest your time and dedication, they will invest their time and dedication into your business.”
