Bon Voyage Cruises and Vacations Relocating to New Location

Bon Voyage Cruises and Vacations, Inc. opened their doors in October of 1997 in Waterford Wisconsin. An accredited full-service travel agency and vacation care concierge service, Bon Voyage specializes in all-inclusive trips and cruises, as well as destination weddings, honeymoons, and anniversaries, Disney vacations, group travel experiences, and more. They hold memberships with American Society of Travel Agents, International Association of Travel Agents, Cruise Lines International Association, Airlines Reporting Corporation, Vacations.com, and Womens Business Enterprise National Council.

With headquarters at 116 N. Main Street in the Village of Waterford, purchased with assistance from BLP, Bon Voyage opened their second location in the Village of Union Grove in December of 2016 in a rental space in the Community State Bank building. Owned by Kari Mullikin, this stage one business – a company with 1 to 9 employees – is continually growing. With the growth, the rental space didn’t supply the needed space. Thus, Bon Voyage purchased on Friday, March 23rd, 2018 a 3,775 square foot building located at 1014 Main Street in Union Grove. This building will provide the needed space for Bon Voyage while also housing a residential unit and a commercial space/store front. The new location will offer increased visibility of the business planning to add 2 new positions to support its growth.

“BLP is the travel agent for community businesses to explore financial assistance. The BLP staff really took the time to understand our needs and to guide our company in obtaining and using the EDA RLF. With their help, purchasing our second location was an amazing adventure,” said Kari Mullikin.

Ms. Mullikin, who is 100% owner and President of Bon Voyage, graduated from Gateway Technical College with an Associate Degree in Travel. Before establishing Bon Voyage, she worked for King Travel in Burlington as Office Manager for four years and as a Travel Agent for Creative Tours & Travel for three years.

With guidance from BLP and Community State Bank, Bon Voyage was able to purchase the new location with the use of the Racine County Economic Development Administration Revolving Loan Fund (EDA RLF), a fund used to provide gap financing to small businesses that reduces the borrower’s equity requirement and provides attractive rates and terms to assist growing businesses, with a quick turnaround for loan approval.

They were also able to obtain the assistance through local community storefront programs, the rent assistance program and the façade grant program offered by the Village of Union Grove. The rent- assistance program intended to assist businesses, and provide incentives to businesses to establish a location on Main Street in the Village of Union Grove. Bon Voyage also received the Façade Improvement Grant, which they will use for signage. These programs support the property owners and businesses, and enhance the business district’s atmosphere.

“Our investment in seemingly surface improvements such as a new paint job, or signage and financial assistance with rents are transforming how people feel about Village's main street, inspiring new patronage and new investment,” said Gordon Svendsen, CDA Chairman. “We are pleased we could assist Bon Voyage in securing a permanent home in our community.”
